Tales Of A 4-5 Something

After our Invention Convention we researched inventions and inventors. Since we were doing our IPs these were small projects. We wrote a little bit so we could answer Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How. If we had time we added images or video. We are keeping all our work on a Thinglink .

Nancy made a video to tell us about Genius Hour. Here it is: During theme time we will learn more about a topic that we pick. Right now we have a Wonder Wall and are putting our ideas on post-its. Our ideas are questions. When we come back from break we will work on our ideas at the end of every day, even during Studio! Some ideas we have on the wall are: How much plastic is in the sea?       What are the components of a computer? How do you play the ukelele?         How do you make a Minecraft Mod? How hard is it to make a dress? Can you make it out of duct tape? What reacts with dry ice? What is dry ice? How did George Lucas come up with Star Wars? What do number patterns sound like if they are music? Over break we will talk to our parents about what we want to do and pick and idea. We will use the paper our teachers made for us.

During Science we studied the 6 simple machines. Can you list them? We did a lot of experiments when we looked at each machine. We also got to play with Legos. We built some machines and showed where the simple machines were.  Here is an example: Then we had an Invention Convention. We took what we learned and tried to make a machine that would solve a problem. We had inventions that would help people get out of bed, feed their pets, get to a friend's house, or even hold a book while they read in bed. It was fun to see everyone and even our K-1 Buddies.
