Today we had a community art project, called tenugui. Chloe showed us what it looks like and explained the project. We got pieces of cloth, stencils and special fabric ink. The stencils were cherry blossoms, plum flowers, lotus flowers and pine. We took cardboard and lightly dipped it in the ink. Then we went over the stencils with the ink leaving a design in the fabric. It turned out to look like this. Thanks for reading. Rose and Jenny On February first we did tenugui for our community art project. We are studying Japan and tenugui is a very traditional form of printmaking. Lots of people collect the cloth with the prints on them. They are very useful for many things like head bands, scarfs, bags and wrapping presents. First we started out with stencils of plum blossoms, lotuses, cherry blossoms and pine. Then with a little piece of cardboard we rubbed the ink onto the cloth.
