Tales Of A 4-5 Something

The classrooms are quiet but the teachers are still in school engaged in their own learning.  We are reflecting on this past school year and are making plans for the next.  We are also learning!  For the past few days we have been "campers" at Waynflete's Tech Camp organized by Page.  Classes have been presented by other teachers.  The 4-5 teachers have tinkered with Notability, Google Forms, Explain Everything, Book Creator, Puppet Pals, and Voice Thread. Below you will find some examples of our Voice Thread work from the year.  Students participated in a CHIRT project and one component of this year-long adventure was to write a review of two books.  Some students took their review and posted it on Voice Thread for others to hear.  All the reviews are in paper form found in the 4-5 library. Where does YOUR summer jump? Into the pool? Onto the trampoline? Well yesterday, my summer jumped into the Portland Expo for my brother’s high school graduation. It started with the procession, which was followed by the opener by Mark Segar. Next was the speech which was very long but still interesting. Then there was a choral performance by the high school choir that was led by the one and only Ms. Olberg! Then there was the student speeches by George Johnson and Peter Stein. That was the end except for the diplomas, the closing by Lowell Libby, the Upper School Director, and the leaving procession. I found the graduation pretty interesting although it was sort of boring at the same time (sorry!) I hope YOUR summer jumps into fun places such as Europe, where my friend from sleepaway camp is right now or just around the block to the ice cream store! Have fun during summer! Grace

This year the play was a musical.  We did How To Eat Like A Child and it was fun.  We worked with all our teachers and Ms. Olberg helped us with the singing.  We sang a lot of songs like The Jolly Buccaneer, We Refuse To Fall Asleep , Sick, and Waiting.  We were on stage two times on Tuesday and it was so much fun.  We liked this play because we added new parts and change lines to make it special.  We hope you liked it.

At the end of every year the 4th graders create a special project for their 5th grade friends.  This year the 4th graders created rhyming couplets.  Here is their gift to this year's 5th graders: Emma C. loves sports like tennis and soccer, When reading a book she loves the rocker. Thorne is an amazing sports star, and he definitely loves to strum his guitar. Lily is passionate about the color green, she’s fun and silly and never mean. Liam makes us laugh and smile, and quickly he could run a mile. Emi is social, fun, and playful, With horses and friends she is very faithful. Chloe is unstoppable when she runs, When it comes to art talent, she’s got tons. Vika likes sailing and sports in the snow, With her harmonica she puts on a great show. Hunter is fascinated with myths that are greek, He reads and plays legos each day of the week. John has many interests like soccer and frogs, In winter he flies like a flash in his bogs.
