Field Day 2017

At the end of May we had an activity called field day. Every program got to go. The 5th graders were guides for the EC, K-1, and 2-3 students. Then we got to do field day! It was really fun because we got to play games like a relay race where each group got timed while jumping over, under, and around things. We also played a game where you had to bounce a ball into a bucket off the ground and after that we did limbo. There was also a pizza box stacking challenge where we had to work as a team. We then did a parachute and played lifeguard. After, we we had a huge tug of war game and to cap it off we had popsicles. It was really fun. Our PE teachers did a great job. Yacob and Abie

More Poems

In Writers' Workshop we ended the year with poetry. We studied different kinds of poetry and made all kinds of poems. Some of us wanted to share our work. George White  White is the flowers being reborn after snowfall it gently soars up as a gull would. It tastes bland and lonely slowly disintegrating at touch. White cascades through the mountains creating paths for lost souls in a hidden terrain. Groundbreaking

On Friday everyone at Waynflete gathered around in the Lower Field and celebrated a groundbreaking of the new Lower School. Some people read memories of the Lower School and Geoff Wagg and others made speeches. The 4-5 chorus sang "The Best Day Of My Life" and all the Lower School got to wear hardhats. The Middle School, Upper School, and lots of guests were there too. At the end of this school year they are going to break down parts of the Lower School. Founders will not get ripped down but will get remodeled. After a year we will have a new building that will help us learn better. It will also be better for the environment. -Sasha

Visiting Ayumi's Studio

On the 17th of May we went to Ayumi’s studio. Ayumi is a potter. When we got there Chole was holding her dog Clover. Clover is a Boston Terrier. When we were outside we played with Clover and played tag. When we went inside we watched Ayumi make a clay into a bowl, she was really fast at it. They also used machine to make bowls. We saw all the pottery she made, it was really cool. She had a lot of cups that were made by her friends and we had so much fun learning. -Jenny and Rosey   You can learn more about Ayumi and her work by visiting her site:  http://ayumihorie.com/

MayPole 2017 & LS Earth Day

The Maypole is a tradition for when we celebrate EarthDay in the Lower School. We have five PE classes to learn how to do the Maypole dance. The Maypole starts out with the fourth graders skipping in a circle and then we go get our partners and skip in a circle. Next we get our ribbon and skip in another circle. We weave twice then we wrap first green, then white, then another weave. Finally we bow and go of stage. We enjoyed doing the Maypole. It was a nice day outside and we all got a piece of the ribbon to take home. Yacob and Kirby
