In 4-5 we are studying civics and government. We studied the checks and balances of government and how a bill becomes a law. In our homestation, we recently had an election in which everyone had a chance to run for something in the Executive Branch and job in the Legislative Branch. For people who didn't want to run or who didn’t win would they automatically be part of the Student Congress. We all got to vote on who we thought would be the best at the different positions after each person who was running did a short speech. The different positions were President, Vice President, Governor and Speaker of the House. Today we got a bill proposed by Diego, who is also the Speaker of the House. We heard the bill talked about it and voted in Student Congress. The bill did not pass. We will have more bills soon! JJ and Emile Daphne before giving her speech.
