On Wednesday, May 16, we went to the Farmer’s Market at Monument Square. It was a long walk but it was worth it. There were many different stands. They were mostly meats, vegetable, flowers, honey and a bit of goat cheese. We saw a dog that could jump through a hoop and could do yoga. We saw a rose that was the oldest rose recorded. Not the flower but the species. Some people were upset that they didn’t bring any money because there was so much we could buy. We visited the market because we are thinking about local foods and urban ecology. We started the year learning about local foods so today we asked farmers where they were from and looked at a map. Now we are learning about how cities have healthy environments for plants and animals. We are also searching for invasive species that are not part of the habitat but are growing anyway. Our work is now posted!
The farmers market was a lot of fun!
