For the last 7 classes I have been working on whittling and wood burning. Wood burning is when you take a stick and a fun little tool that burns the wood but doesn't catch it on fire so you can draw little designs. On one of the canes that I made I stripped all the bark off and sanded it down until it was very smooth. On the other cane I put a lot more designs on it but kept some bark on for a nice texture then put some fun designs on it like a bear and a head. If you want to start whittling there are
some basic rules.
1. Always sit
2. Always move the knife away from you
3. Thumb off the blade
4. Make sure no one is near
5. Do not pull towards your knee
6. Always pay attention (no talking to others)
7. Always close the knife when done
8. Do a little at a time
I hope this helped! Lucian
