On Tuesday, February 2nd my Dad and Stepmom (Kara and Colin) came in to talk about Peru. First, Kara showed us the pictures she took and talked about them. She passed around some clothes and weavings she bought in Peru and showed us some flavored salt from a salt farm. Dad then passed around some Peruvian carved rocks he made. When they were done with that we did a ceremony called Despatcho. We sat in a circle and had a folded up piece of paper and some items all around us. There were rose petals, lentils, rice, and gummy bears. Then we took turns going in the circle and sprinkling the items in the middle square then we blowed on a leaf to make a wish and put that in. When everyone had done it we folded it up then me and Yen (Yenenesh) went in and held down the string while dad tied it around it was SUPER cool!
