Spinning
by Bella and Cece
This year in themes we are studying Peru. Themes is where each class rotates to the other home stations learning about different parts of Peru. In Nancy's class we’re studying weaving and spinning in a Peruvian style. We're using Drop Spindles to make our yarn. We make the yarn out of wool. The spindles are made out of a medium wooden disc with a small hole in the middle and a stick. We put the stick through the hole then put two rubber bands on each end. We got some wool and pulled it until it was thin. We wrapped the wool around the stick and then we started to roll the wool and like magic the wool started to turn into yarn! We found it was really, really fun to make the yarn! We hope you like the article!
